Discover the rich diversity of wild plants that grow throughout Voyageurs National Park while exploring their ecological, cultural, and historical significance. This immersive three-hour field workshop combines guided exploration, plant identification, ethical foraging principles, storytelling, and hands-on observation to help participants see the landscape through a new lens.
Led by longtime naturalist, forager, and Voyageurs Conservancy Education Specialist Moss Kupper, participants will learn to recognize common native plants, discuss traditional and contemporary relationships between people and plants, and explore principles of respectful stewardship and sustainable harvesting. Along the way, guests will visit the Sullivan Bay Trail and Beaver Pond Overlook while developing practical plant identification skills and a deeper connection to the natural world.
The experience concludes with a relaxed group reflection and herbal tea social featuring locally sourced botanicals.
No prior experience is necessary. Participants should be prepared to walk approximately 2 miles on uneven terrain and are encouraged to bring a water bottle and weather-appropriate clothing.
