Volunteer for Voyageurs

Looking to donate your time? Share your park knowledge? Keep the park clean? Sign up for our volunteer interest list!

VNPA is building a volunteer corps that will help us with events and other projects at the park and around the state. We are looking for people from all over Minnesota and beyond to help us raise awareness for and protect this wonderful park! Joining the volunteer email list is not a commitment, so feel free to sign up if you’re not sure but still want to hear about volunteering opportunities!

Volunteer opportunities

Outreach & Community Engagement: VNPA would love your help in growing our community of park visitors and supporters. Volunteer support can include tabling at special events (many in the Twin Cities metro area) and giving presentations to people of all ages.

Park Projects: We host occasional volunteer work days to help with park projects ranging from tree planting and invasive species removal, to trash cleanup. Keep an eye on the VNPA e-newsletter for opportunities. There are also a handful of park sites like the greenhouse or the Ellsworth Rock Gardens who could benefit from trained volunteers who can commit to weekly hours.

Trails: Clean and maintain a trail on your own time or volunteer with a trails crew when work weeks are scheduled. We are especially looking for volunteers who can become trained trails crew leaders and support projects throughout the summer. Plug in to local groups that support winter grooming.

Visitor Center Support: Visitor center volunteers are a vital part of the operations of the park, and are tasked with sharing information with visitors and helping them plan their visits. Opportunities are available for both local people who can commit to volunteering 1-2 days/week, as well as others who can commit to full time (4 days/week). Housing or an RV space may be available for full-time volunteers. No prior knowledge of the park is required; training provided!

VNPA Board of Directors and Committee Service: Do you have experience in finance, fundraising, government relations, law, marketing, program development, community development or conservation science? You can help with the strategic direction of the park's nonprofit partner.

Tele-Volunteer: The Park Service and VNPA can always use help with writing and designing materials, maintaining websites, and other projects depending on your skills and interests.
