Voyageurs Conservancy Fall Member Social
Join us for an evening of wine and socializing as we celebrate the people and projects that make Voyageurs National Park such a special place. We'll share a behind-the-scenes look at the Conservancy's work and offer a glimpse at what's ahead. We'll also turn our attention to Voyageurs' forests as we welcome Voyageurs Conservancy Advisory Council member Dave Chaffin, Ph.D., who will share a brief talk entitled "Beyond the shorelines. The conservation value of Voyageurs' inland forests."
Dave is a Senior Sustainability Advisor with Pure Strategies, where he works with companies to achieve ethical supply chains that protect forests, other natural ecosystems, and human rights. Previously, Dave served as Boreal Forest Conservation Director for The Nature Conservancy, supporting Indigenous leadership and authority in the heart of Canada's boreal forest.
Dave will share his perspective on the critical role protected forests play in mitigating the global climate and biodiversity crises, how Voyageurs fit into that, and potential challenges and opportunities facing Voyageurs' forests in the future. And as an avid Rainy Lake angler, he'll probably throw in a fishing story or two along the way.
Most of all, this evening is a chance for us to say thank you. As a Voyageurs Conservancy donor, your generosity helps make conservation, education, stewardship, and meaningful experiences in Voyageurs possible — and we're grateful to champion that work with you.
Arrive early to walk the nature center trails with Tribal Programs Manager Larissa Juip before the program begins.
