Voyageurs National Park has some of the darkest - and most brilliant - night skies! This summer, enjoy a family-friendly guided tour across space with a Voyageurs Conservancy education specialist and experience Minnesota's national park after dark. With our brand- new 18’ telescope, you’ll have the opportunity to view distant planets, galaxies, and mesmerizing starscapes like never before!

TIME: 1O - 11 PM

LOCATION: Voyagaire Lodge on Crane Lake (outside on the lawn)

WHO: All ages

BE PREPARED:

  • There will be mosquitoes! Bring bug spray and mosquito nets, and be prepared to face some bugs at the beginning of the program.

  • Flashlight (red is best) - we are in one of the darkest areas of the Park you can access by car, so there will be little artificial light. Flashlights to navigate are helpful, and red light flashlights will help you keep your night vision.

  • No pre-registration required. Check back on the event page at 8pm the day of the event for any weather cancellations. Program will be rescheduled in the event of rain, clouds, and inclement weather.

Viewable celestial objects (dependent on time of the night, month, and year)

  • Planets: Mars, Jupiter, Saturn

  • Moon

  • Meteor showers

Note: Dark Sky Programs may be canceled due to inclement or cloudy weather. Please make sure to check voyageurs.org/events for updates.
