Connect with Voyageurs Conservancy at The Great Northern Festival in Minneapolis!

Join us at the Climate Action Fair on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, where we’ll be sharing tips on winter recreation and ice safety, and highlighting our region’s spectacular night skies, which are at their clearest during the winter months!

On Family Day, Sunday, February 1, enjoy a special presentation from our education team:

Discover how both people and wildlife have adapted to thrive in Minnesota’s snowy winters! Join Voyageurs Conservancy to learn how animals like the snowshoe hare and Canada lynx use their oversized feet to move swiftly across deep snow and how humans have taken inspiration from these natural adaptations to create snowshoes over time.

Through hands-on activities and storytelling, families will learn about the invention of snowshoes by Indigenous peoples as an essential winter travel tool and hear why snowshoeing remains one of the best ways to experience the beauty and stillness of Voyageurs National Park in winter.

After the activity, stop by the Voyageurs Mobile Classroom and try out a pair of snowshoes and experience firsthand how they help you travel across the snow. We’ll have plenty of youth snowshoes and a limited number of adult snowshoes available to borrow.

Presentation location & time coming soon.
