Speaker Series Event: “Teacher to Ranger to Teacher”
Voyageurs National Park Presents “Teacher to Ranger to Teacher” – Friday, July 24 Imagine being able to bring a classroom to life with actual experiences of living and working in a national park. The National Park Service started the Teacher-Ranger-Teacher program in 2006, which turns teachers into park rangers for a summer. Teachers bring their newfound knowledge and experiences back to the classrooms. Come meet Voyageurs National Park’s first Teacher-Ranger-Teacher Mike Barnes. Mike teaches at Bloomington Kennedy High School. Mike will tell stories about his summer experience at the park and will share his plan for bringing Voyageurs National Park to life in his classroom. Evening programs are offered every Friday night during the summer at the historic Woodenfrog State Forest Campground Refectory near Kabetogama Lake from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. Programs are sponsored by the Friends of Voyageurs National Park. No fee or registration is required to attend. Visit www.nps.gov/voya for more information, or contact Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center at 218-875-2111 for more information. |
